Tusker FCs Macharia named July finest

Tusker FC forward Jackson Macharia on Friday was crowned club’s finest player for the month of July, at the Ruaraka Headquarters, Nairobi.

Macharia, was recognized not only for his performance in the local scene but his displays in Spain with the KPL All Stars team that recently toured the country for a series of friendly mathes.

During the outing, Macharia was named Man of the Match in their clash against Sevilla Atletico, despite the KPL side falling by a solitary goal.

He was pivotal in their Premier League and the Shield Cup, scoring the winner against National Super League (NSL) side Palos FC in the round of 16, in Kisumu.

A jovial Macharia thanked the club’s management and players for the accolade, saying it takes teamwork for a player to deliver.

“I’m happy and motivated to do even more for my team. It is never a one man show in football, we win as a team therefore I’m proud for all my colleagues and the management too.

“I believe we can win the league again. We have a strong team, we just need to be consistent without losing focus,” remarked the former Thika United player.

The 23-year old took home Ksh. 50,000 prize money for the award, counting his blessings beyond the award having been recently called up in the national team Harambee Stars.

The initiative to reward best performing player every month by the reigning KPL champions began in the 2016 season, which the hitherto Coach Paul Nkata led the 11-time national champions to scoop a domestic double, the Shield Cup and the league.

-Nsimbe undeterred-

In the same development, Head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe is undeterred in his quest to defend the KPL title, despite midweek’s 1-0 loss to Posta Rangers.

The Ugandan underscored there are ‘small issues’ he is rectifying with his charges and bounce back to winning ways.

“We started off badly when I was very new here. We gathered ourselves and challenged our major competitors strongly and finished the first round of matches in quite an inspiring place.

“As at now we are not in the position we deserve to be but we are sure once we correct few issues we will be back at the top. We have a long way to go but we have to avoid dropping points going forward,” Nsimbe charged.

The brewers are currently fourth on the KPL log, five points adrift leaders Gor Mahia with 16 matches to go.
