Tusker frustrate Gor as Posta Rangers go top in KPL

Domestic giants Gor Mahia FC failed to score against Tusker FC for the third Kenyan Premier League (KPL) encounter in a row as the champions held on for their third successive stalemate.

The dour 0-0 draw saw Posta Rangers replace Gor at the summit of the KPL following their 1-0 win over newcomers Kariobangi Sharks in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Joseph Mbugi was the hero for the Rangers as he tucked away a first half penalty to guide Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s men to their fourth win in six matches and remain one of only two sides in the division that is yet to lose a match this term.

In other matches, Nakumatt FC defeated Western Stima 2-0 with goals from Peter Nzuki and former AFC Leopards striker guiding the newcomers to their second win.

Struggling Zoo Kericho FC finally scored their first top flight goal as they held Nzoia United to a 1-1 draw. Lawrence Juma had put Nzoia ahead with a 27th minute strike before midfielder Mike Madoya levelled matters eight minutes later.

Zoo remain bottom of the KPL on only one point and next host Muhoroni Youth, who were 2-0 winners over Sony Sugar. First half goals from Robert Ouma and Bliss Kittyo lifted the KPL Top 8 holders to 10th on the log.

Sofapaka and Kakamega Homeboyz played to a goalless draw as the Batoto ba Mungu moved temporarily into third pending the outcomes of Sunday’s matches.

Ulinzi Stars will host Mathare United while AFC Leopards take a trip to Thika United.
