Tusker hit two past Chemelil, rise to third

Tusker FC fought from a goal down to secure the much needed 2-1 win against visitors Chemelil FC in an entertaining Kenya Premier League date at Ruaraka grounds.

Biko Tindi was on target 26 minutes into the game to hand the visitors the lead before Mike Madoya levelled for the hosts four minutes before the break.

Front man Boniface Muchiri bagged the winner for the brewers seven minutes to stoppage time, much to the excitement of travelling fans.

The result hauled Tusker to third spot with 17 points after nine rounds as Chemelil remain fourth from bottom with seven points.

Elsewhere, goal poacher Stephen Waruru was on target to hand Sofapaka their first win in eight matches as ‘Batoto ba Mungu’ edged Posta Rangers 1-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The 66th minute solitary goal by the former Ulinzi striker was enough to hand Rangers their fourth consecutive defeat as they slid to second bottom on six points, three above winless Mount Kenya United.

Former champions Ulinzi Stars survived an onslaught to earn a point against a resurgent Mount Kenya United at the Kasarani Stadium.

John Ndirangu gave United the lead, after knocking left back Olivier Ruto off the ball in midfield, and curling home a fine shot, against the run of play.

Bernard Ongoma however spoiled the party right at the death to level the scores, moments after Nigol Mohammed was denied by the post from the spot signaling a longer wait for Melis Medo first win since returning to Mount Kenya.
