Tusker, Mathare share the spoils in four goal thriller
Eleven-time Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC were on Sunday afternoon limited to a 2-2 draw by a determined Mathre United in a thrilling league contest at the Ruaraka grounds.
Cliff Nyakeya was the toast for the ‘Slum Boys’ bagging a brace while Timothy Otieno found the mark for the brewers in the first half as Sydney Ochieng scored another in the second half to ensure for shared spoils.
Tusker will however have Ochieng to thank as his last minute goal ensured for spoils when they were on the cusp of defeat; the point earned hauling their points tally to 47 .
In a post- match interview, Mathare coach Francis Kimanzi said that he was comfortable with the result.
“The draw is not a bad result since the match was tough, and also the ground is not that good but I’m happy that there are no serious injuries.
He went on: ” My team is ready to face Posta Rangers on Wednesday next week.”
In other KPL matches, Wazito FC held Zoo FC to a 3-3 draw as Nzoia Sugar overcame Thiak United 1-0.
