Tusker FC versus Kariobangi Sharks will highlight the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) midweek clashes as the out-of-form champions return to action after a two-week break.

Tusker go into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Gor Mahia FC, a result that leaves them 21 points adrift the league leaders and have a decent finish as their only realistic target for the season.

The two are joint sixth on the 18-team KPL log, level on 39 points although the Sharks have a superior goal difference having conceded eight less goals than the Brewers.

Tusker Coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe said he expects the visitors to give them a hard time but exuded confidence in winning the encounter.

“My players are on course to bounce back after losing to Gor. We will be playing against a top side but I believe if we play according to plan then we will win,” Nsimbe said.

Reinstated Zoo Kericho FC who won 1-0 against Kakamega Homeboyz on their return to the KPL fold, will tackle eighth-placed Nzoia Sugar at their Green Stadium home turf.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Zoo Coach Sam Okoth termed their victory over third-placed Kakamega Homboyz as motivational and is optimistic that positive results will follow as they seek to lock down a place in next year’s too-tier.

“It was a great motivation to our team especially this difficult time we had been axed from the league and reinstated back and winning against third-placed Kakamega also boost us, we want to prove that we are suitable for the league,” he said.

Nzoia were shock losers to bottom-table side Muhoroni Youth last weekend in a thrilling 4-3 tie at the Sudi Stadium.

Striker Masita Masuta was injured in the clash and will miss the trip to Kericho, leaving Coach Bernard Mwalala without the man that led their charge to the KPL. Elvis Rupia is expected to replace him up front.

In Wednesday’s other match, Western Stima visit Nakumatt FC at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
