Tusker FC captain Eugine Asike says they are determined to cause an upset when they collide with Egyptian giants Zamalek on Saturday at the Nyayo National Stadium in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

The Kenyan representatives qualified for this stage after defeating Arta Solar 7 of Djibouti 4-1 on aggregate after 1-1 draw away on September 11 and 3-0 triumph at Nyayo National Stadium on September 18 but Asike acknowledges this will be a different tie.

“This is a different clash, everyone wants to quality for the group stage of the continental tournament, we have a fully fit squad that is ready to make the country proud and we know very well they are a top side but we have players who can match them,” said Asike

Despite the financial struggles affecting the Egyptian side,  Asike says they are wary of their experience in the competition  having won the  League five times, finished as runners-up thrice and won the CAF  Super Cup four times.

“We are aware of their experience in the tournament and the massive record that they have but we are determined to qualify to the group stages and Saturday’s match is must win if we have to stand any chance of getting in to the next stage,” he explained. “We know the financial challenges they have been facing recently and that could be a driving force for them ahead of the encounter but our focus is on the game and getting good result for our country and fans,”Asike told Citizen Digital.

Zamalek arrived in the country on Tuesday night ahead of the Saturday showdown with the winner of the two-leg match qualifying for the group stage which comes with Sh55 million cash prize.
