Tusker sink Bandari, cruise to Shield round of 16

Tusker FC over turned a 1-0 goal deficit to overcome fellow Kenya Premier League side Bandari FC 2-1 in an FKF -Shield match played on Saturday at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa to qualify for the round of 16.

Wycliffe Ochomo fired the Dockers to the lead after just four minutes but the brewers responded just before half- time with a goal from Timothy Otieno, to level the tie heading into the break.

Minutes after resumption, Boniface Muchiri doubled the tally for the vistors.

Bandari captain Felly Mulumba will rue the opportunity he had after failing to convert a penalty awarded in stoppage time of the first half after Tusker custodian Duncan Ochieng was adjudged to have fouled him.

Tusker now joins Gor Mahia in the last-16. Gor sailed through on Wednesday after cruising past minnows Kenpoly.

Tusker coach Robert Matano will now prepare his team to face another coastal based side, Mwatate United.

At Mbaraki, Tusker had to dig deep to put behind a poor form in the league where they have been struggling to collect points.
