Tusker sink Leopards to cement FKF-PL lead

Tusker FC defeated AFC Leopards 2-0 at the Thika Municipal Stadium on Friday as they tightened their grip on the FKF Premier League top spot.

Goals from Chrispinus Onyango and Chris Ochieng’ secured victory for the Brewers who stretched their advantage at the summit to seven points, putting them in prime position with sevens rounds left to play.

A depleted Leopards side was without the services of seven key players; goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan and Said Tsuma whose contracts have expired and Clyde Senaji, Robinson Kamura, Austin Odhiambo, Brian Nabwire, Lewis Bandi who are on national duty with the Emerging Stars.

Tusker also had to cope without to three players; injured Luke Namanda and Henry Mejja and Boniface Muchiri both with the Emerging Stars.

An early chance for Leopards fell for Harrison Mwendwa who was picked out by a long throw from Ezekiel Owade but the attacker shot wide with only goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure to beat.

Ochieng scored the opener after just 15 minutes with the hosts preserving that lead  at the interval. Tusker doubled their lead just six minutes into the second half as Onyango reacted quickest to stab home a rebound.

Mvuyekure made a superb stop to deny Peter Thiong’o in 53rd minute and Leopards were never allowed back into the game with defeat leaving them third on 43 points, 11 behind Tusker.

KCB sit second with 47 points and a difficult job to play catch up on leaders.
