Tusker stagger Sofapaka, move to KPL summit

Eleven-time Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker staggered their way to the summit of the league table on Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over battling Sofapaka  at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

John Avirrie put the Batoto ba Mungu ahead in the 39th minute but this was cancelled out by Timothy Otieno, before the brewers got other goals through John Kamau and Justine Omary.

Sofapaka rallied late to notch in their second through Cliff Kasuti but the brewers held on for the vital win that hauled their points tally to 13 to move to the top of the standings ahead of Sunday’s crunch meeting between Gor Mahia and Mathare United FC.
