Tusker want new striker to boost KPL chase

Tusker FC head coach believes his forward line needs strengthening and could be forced to sign a striker before the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) transfer window closes.

Matano said his side’s blunt attacking display was a source for concern following their 1-1 draw with Ulinzi Stars during Wednesday’s KPL fixture at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi.

Tusker had suffered four straight defeats before drawing Ulinzi in a run that has seen the 11-time KPL champions slump into ninth place on the league standings.

Most of their of goals this season have been sourced from midfield with midfielder Sydney Ochieng topping the club’s charts with four goals while winger Boniface Muchiri and striker David Juma have chipped in with two apiece.

“We played well against Ulinzi and I am happy we got one point against a very tough opponent but we still want to put in more effort at least to get on or two strikers to help us score more goals,” Matano said.

Tusker announced earlier in the month that they had pulled out of the FKF Shield, a trophy they have won four times, in order to concentrate on their league assignments and pressure is on the Matano’s charges to deliver a decent finish.
