Tuyisenge out for at least three more weeks

Record SportPesa Premier League champions, Gor Mahia’s signing, Jacques Tuyisenge will remain on the sidelines for at least three more weeks before making his debut for his new club.

The Rwandese international striker who cost Ksh4m from Police FC cannot get back on the pitch fast enough with the titleholders struggling for goals having scored only once in a defense that appears to be crumbling ahead of the fifth round of the competition.

However, K’Ogalo faithful have to wait longer to see their latest catch in action after club assistant boss; Frank Ouna confirmed the lay-off after watching the player take part in his first full training session on Tuesday since his arrival at the start of the season.

“He is responding well. It was his first full training and could take up to three weeks to be fit to play,” said Ouna.

Tuyisenge’s recovery will be a big boost for the team after losing Michael Olunga, Meddie Kagere and Victor Ali Abondo the lethal attacking trio that fired them to the crown last season unbeaten.

Forwards Enock Agwanda and Jacob Keli who were expected to hold fort have failed to hit form with Ouna admitting the lack of goals was worrying the team’s management ahead of the next clash against Nairobi City Stars.

However, Ouna insists he will work with the available team as he awaits Tuyisenge’s full recovery and possibly the club will bolster the strikeforce mid-season with the champions still searching for a first win after losing their 35-match unbeaten records to archrivals AFC Leopards on Sunday in a 1-0 reverse.

Tuyisenge however, called on the Green Army to temper their expectations as he works to get fully match fit and help the K’Ogalo course.

“I have seen Gor has good players, there is that problem of scoring goal scoring which can only be dealt with by the whole team. I will be just an addition cooperating with the rest to score goals,” the former Police FC goal poacher said after this morning’s training.

He highly rates Kenya’s top flight league terming it as a mature one, though he has much to speak of his former club than the current.

Tuyisenge was adamant that head coach Frank Nuttall’s reported shift to Egypt giants Zamalek was still a rumour and the development will not affect their preparations for their next SPL league assignment.
