Tuyisenge strikes again as Gor cut Mathare’s lead

Gor Mahia FC trimmed Mathare United’s lead at the summit of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) to a point as they edged Wazito FC 1-0 in Wednesday’s midweek fixture at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Striker Jacques Tuyisenge scored the decisive goal for the second time in the space of three days as he headed home the winner off Cercidy Okeyo’s cross to take their tally to 22 points.

The Rwandan striker had scored from the spot on Sunday as Gor took a 1-0 first leg advantage in their CAF Confederation Cup play-off with Supersport United and proved the difference on the domestic front again as Gor made it four wins on the bounce.

The champions have two games in hand – against Sony Sugar and Chemelil Sugar – over leaders Mathare who have made bright start to the 2018 campaign.

The result ended Wazito FC’s two-match winning streak as but the top flight newbies remained unmoved on the log, sitting 12th on 11 points after nine matches.
