Two England fans arrested in Marseille

Two England fans have reportedly been arrested in Marseille after being involved in a brawl ahead of Euro 2016.

A large crowd of English supporters were seen gathered at The Queen Victoria pub on Thurday evening in the Old Port district of the city.

It’s then reported than a number of fans clashed with locals in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police authorities say one of the supporters was arrested for assaulting a barman, and the other for violent disorder before teargas was used to the disperse the fracas.

Another travelling fan is understood to have been treated in hospital after sustaining a head injury, while a local man was also believed to have been detained for his part in the trouble.

The incident is thought to have taken place within six kilometres of the fan park and England team hotel.

Roy Hodgson’s side kick-off their campaign against Russia at the Stade Velodrome on Saturday.
