Two more players out of Stars squad after missing air tickets
Two more Harambee Stars players have been ruled out of the world cup qualifier against Cape Verde on Friday.
Ayub Timbe was already ruled out due to an injury, and now Goalkeeper Arnold Origi and defender Brian Mandela will not make it for the match as they did not get their air tickets from Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The government had committed to flying in all the players, and the Football Kenya Federation was frantically looking for the next available flights for the two players.
“As of Thursday evening, we were still waiting for the Ministry of Sports to send the tickets to the players. We spoke to the players and they were just waiting for the tickets to fly to Nairobi,” said a source in the team.
“We are frustrated by this tickets issue. Our preparations are hampered by not having all players here in time. We have able replacements, but it would have been better to have all the players in camp in good time,” he added.
This is the second time that players are missing national team assignment due to lack of air tickets.
