Two nationwide sides to debut at Impala Floodlit

Nationwide sides MKU Thika and Resolution Kisii are set to debut on the 36th edition of the Impala Floodlit.

The tournament is set to kick off on Saturday on the 4th November 2017 with MKU battling it out with the ever present Blak Blad at the Impala Club.

A statement sent by hosts Impala Saracens said MKU Thika had confirmed their participation to complete the quarterfinal draw.

MKU led by former Kenya Sevens Legend Peter Mutai was quick to point out the need of his team to participate in this year’s edition and reiterated on the need of his players to express them positively.

“This tournament has a perfect history from way back. This is where XV competition gets thrilling. The knock-out phase to us is a challenge and a perfect component to an atmosphere that brings out the best of my players. It is a good opportunity to judge ourselves just before kick start of the season”.Mutai added.

“The battle with Blak blad is always worth looking up to and will always be interesting to watch the outcome of this game”.

“My players have prepared well and will be relying on our systems for a triumph”, but we expect a tight contest given the fact that “BLAD” have been in this tournament before, but we hope for the best,” The legendary added.

Mku will be relying on their experienced Powerhouse Eric Gitau and swift Samuel Kinyua and legendary Richard Obiero as their key arsenal going to this quarterfinal battle.

The winner of this University derby will meet the winner of the Daystar Falcons/Catholic Monks quarterfinals to book a date at the semifinal stage.

Kenya Cup champions KCB will kick-off this year’s Impala Floodlit tournament against Kisii RFC at 3pm with Strathmore Leos plays Mean Machine at 5pm.

The big game of the day will see the mighty Kenya Harlequins set to battle it out with an equal enterprise of Menengai Homeboyz at 7pm.

Hosts Impala Saracens have received a direct qualification and will face the winner of Strathmore/Machine in semis as KCB/Kisii awaits Quins/Homeboyz for the semis to be played on Saturday November 11, 2017.
