Ulinzi Starlets' head coach, Joseph Wambua Mwanza, exudes confidence in his team's ability to secure a spot in the semifinals of the FKF Women’s Cup.

The soldiers are set to clash with Mlima Queens on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Dandora Stadium, with victory guaranteeing them a place in the semifinals.

Ulinzi advanced to the quarterfinals following a commanding 3-0 win against Royal Starlets in the Round of 16, held on Sunday, March 24, at the Ndura Sports Complex.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Wambua acknowledged that their aspirations of clinching the FKF Women’s Premier League (KWPL) title have been dashed, shifting their focus to defending their FKF Women’s Cup championship this season.

"We have made thorough preparations and are fully prepared to take on Mlima Queens. They pose a significant challenge, having eliminated premier league side Nakuru City Queens. I anticipate an engaging match," said Wambua.

Despite the setback of missing utility player Diana Shakava, who suffered a wrist injury two months ago, Wambua expressed satisfaction with her recovery progress and returned to training. "While it's unfortunate that Diana will miss the match, I'm pleased with her recovery and return to training."

"With our hopes in the FKF PL dashed, our primary objective is to retain our FKF Women’s Cup title. We remain determined to secure a top-three finish," Wambua emphasized.

Kibera Soccer Ladies will face Bungoma Queens in a doubleheader at Dandora Stadium in other quarterfinal fixtures, while KWPL leaders Police Bullets FC will take on Kangemi Ladies. On Sunday, Kisiwa Starlets will clash with Zetech Sparks at the Ndura Sports Complex.
