Ulinzi Stars make management changes

The 2010 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions, Ulinzi Stars, on Tuesday announced changes to their management structure in line with recent development at the top brass of the Kenya Defence Forces.

According to the club’s website, Lieutenant-Colonel Erick Oloo has been promoted to take over the chairmanship from Lieutenant-Colonel Juma S Mwinyikai.

“Immediate former Officer in Charge (OIC), Major Joel Birgen has been promoted to the post of vice-chairman, taking on Lt. Col Oloo’s previous post. Captain Godwin Baraza will be the new OIC, taking on Major Birgen’s post, all with immediate effect.

“It is a new challenge, higher expectation and definitely an opportunity to serve the club in a bigger capacity. I am pleased with the promotion and hopefully we continue with our aim of taking this team to the highest heights possible,” Major Birgen the former decorated Ulinzi and Harambee Stars player told the website.

The soldiers are third on the log on 31 points, six adrift of leaders Tusker FC with 11 rounds of the 2016 campaign left and face a testing trip to Muhoroni Youth on Wednesday in the populated KPL midweek fixtures.

Muhoroni are fifth on 28.
