Ulinzi vs Gor postponed to pave way for Hull Challenge

The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match between Ulinzi Stars and Gor Mahia FC that was scheduled for Sunday has been postponed to a later, the league management body announced Tuesday.

The date of the clash had coincided with that which will pit Gor and English Championship side Hull City, putting all parties involved in a tight spot.

Gor had early Tuesday been mulling splitting their squad to meet both assignments after reports emerged the KPL schedulers had been reluctant to cancel Sunday’s league fixture to pave way for the Hull City Challenge.

“This is to inform you that the above-mentioned match which was scheduled to be played at the Afraha Stadium on Sunday, 13 May 2018 has been postponed.

“A new date for the match will be communicated in due course,” the KPL said in a brief statement.

The development will see Gor’s games in hand accumulate to at least four matches with their commitment in CAF competitions contributing to the pile-up.

It also gives head coach Dylan Kerr the opportunity to field a full-strength team against Hull during the one-0ff game at the Kasarani Stadium.

The match represents the centrepiece of a five-day Hull tour of the country during which the Tigers will also host a coaching clinic for locals and visit a number of community-based projects.

Gor earned the right to play the Hull Tigers after a 5-4 shootout win over AFC Leopards during their May 1 play-off at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
