Unstoppable Homeboyz maul Nakuru, bag Kabeberi 7s title
Homeboyz RFC continued with their impressive performance this term beating Nakuru RFC 19-7 to win the Kabeberi Sevens title on Sunday afternoon at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Three tries of which two were converted ensured the Deejayz won the cup against Nakuru’s sole converted try.
Deejays captain Leonard Mugaisi, utility man Alvin Otieno and fly-half Johnstone Olindi crossed over for the log leaders as Kenya 7s winger Nelson Oyoo scored Nakuru’s solo try.
Homeboyz now lead the local circuits standings with 66 points from the hat-trick of cup wins.
Recently They beat Mwamba RFC in both Kabeberi and Prinsloo 7s legs.
To qualify for the cup final, Homeboyz beat Kenya Harlequins 19-14 in the semi-finals while Nakuru edged KCB 14-10 in the other semifinals.
Kenya Cup champions KCB got a consolation after finishing to third with a 22-5 win over rivals Kenya Harlequin, while hosts Mwamba RFC finished fifth after seeing off Kabras Sugar 26-19.
Menengai Oilers were crowned the Challenge Trophy winners after beating Kisii 15-0 as Impala Saracens were 17-14 winners over MMUST to secure a 13th position finish.
Impala RFC, MMUST, Northern Suburbs and Kisumu RFC– were all relegated after losing their respective challenge trophy quarters.
The circuit heads to Mombasa for Driftwood Sevens, the fourth leg of the series this weekend.
