Ushuru tax points from Bidco to claim KPL play-off ticket

Ushuru FC claimed a third-place finish in the National Super League, and with it,  a Kenyan Premier league promotion play-off ticket where they’ll face off with Nakumatt FC after battling Bidco to a 1-1 draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as the curtains came down on the 2018 season in the most spectacular of ways.

Ushuru, trailing Bidco for the better part of the game, equalised with barely 18 minutes left to end the campaign on 69 points, piping Nairobi Stima to the play-off ticket after the latter were blanked 4-1 by Kenya Commercial Bank at Camp Toyoyo grounds in Nairobi.

Prior to the final round of matches, the tax men and the power men were both deadlocked on 68 points, with the latter enjoying a better goal difference but their undoing was the capitulation in the hands of the bankers who showed little mercy even after bagging the automatic promotion slots alongside NSL champions Western Stima.

Michael Osundwa opened the bankers goal account in the 22nd minute, before Kelvin Otieno and a Jacob Kelly’s extra-ordinary goal gave them a healthy advantage.

Patrick Ndwiga pulled one for Stima in the 70th minute but Samuel Semo dimmed any hopes of a last minute come back with another priceless goal, eight minutes to time.

Meanwhile, at the tail end of the log, GFE 105 and Nakuru All Stars, were all relegated after a poor season.
