USIU Falcons targeting UCFL glory

For the fourth consecutive season, USIU Falcons is gearing to take part in the Universities and Colleges Football League (UCFL), as the Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) games takes a break.

Having finished the league second last season, Falcons are targeting to topple champions Technical University of Kenya (TUK), who they saw clinch last season’s title at their expense.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, newly appointed captain Marylyne Limo said the they have made the necessary changes ready for a better season.

“I expect my team to finish at the top of the UCFL considering the changes that have been made in training. I also expect commitment from the players and improvement in various aspects of their game, especially speed,” said the skipper.

Falcons coach Christine Nafula is equally upbeat, eyes on the top prize.

“Team spirit, that commitment we are instilling is what will make the difference this time round,” she underscored.

Apart from TUK, Nafula has singled out Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) as another serious contender.

USIU will be looking to settle into the league early on as they also will be taking part in upcoming tournaments which culminates into the East African games later on in the year.

According to Nafula,  physical and mental fitness will be key in balancing across the season assignments. The schedule for the league is due to be released.
