Omino succumbed to cancer Friday night in Ng’iya, Siaya County aged 71 . Plans are underway to transfer his body to Star Hospital mortuary in Kisumu.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, his long-term friend and former boss, Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita mourned him as a “great mentor” moreso to upcoming footballers and coaches.
”Omino was a great mentor. Of the coaches I’ve worked with I still rate Omino as the best.
“I’ve requested the family to bring the body to Kisumu, most likely at Star Hospital. He died in Ng’iya but he’s well known here. The body should arrive here shortly.
“Those who worked with him will ensure that he is given a decent send-off,”noted Jobita.
Omino is best remembered for his long stint as Western Stima coach before taking the reins at Kisumu All Stars where he served for sometime, parting ways with the club some two months ago.
