Victory for Homeboyz Rugby in Nanyuki

National Sevens Series leaders, Menengai Cream Homeboyz, are the inaugural Nanyuki Sevens champions after beating KCB 10-0 in the final at Nanyuki Sports Club on Sunday, 11.

The Deejays, who have featured in all the four Cup finals, (Prinsloo and Dala triumphs coming in between losses at Kabeberi and Driftwood), and accumulating 82 points in the process took the lead through Humphrey Owour’s unconverted try which remained the difference between the two teams.

Bush Mwale came in for injured Owour to guide the Prinsloo and Dala Sevens champions to another try from Mulama to seal the win.

The champions have now won three legs out of five played and are in pole position to win the overall title come next weekend during Christie sevens where they will be seeded top.

In the semis, Homeboyz beat Mwamba RFC 24-7 as Kenya Sevens captain and Olympian, Andrew Amonde, scored at the sudden death to see KCB defeat Kabeberi Sevens champions Impala Saracens 24-19.

Impala finished third with a 17-5 win over Mwamba in the playoffs, Kenya Harlequins beat Strathmore Leos 19-0 to win plate, Blakblad claimed Bowl with a 21-5 win over catholic Monks while Kisii RFC took home the Shield after defeating Makueni RFC by 24-5.

Amonde was named the most valuable player while op Fry Nakuru’s Gramwell Bunyasi was the top try scorer with a total of 10 touchdowns.
