Vihiga coach Okoth ready for Kisumu face-off

Vihiga United are ready to take on Kisumu All-Stars this weekend in a promotion playoffs match as they chase for a ticket to the FKF Premier League.

In a conversation with Citizen Digital, Vihiga United coach Sammy Okoth said he is contented with the preparations made by his team as they trained under strict Covid-19 measures.

“We are contented with the preparations that we have made, we are just waiting for the game, and I believe my boys have done their best during their individual trainings due to restrictions by the Ministry of Health to curb Covid 19,” the soft-spoken coach said.

Having spied on his opponents for a while now, Okoth says he’s expecting a tough match.

“Kisumu All-Stars are a good team, they got all it takes to win the match, I have watched them play, my boys need to tighten their nuts in order to beat them. I, however, believe that my dream of making it to the Premier League is on course,” Okoth added.

Okoth also notes that the postponement of the match more than twice has been a big disappointment for the team as it kills off morale.

The playoffs were postponed after the government banned contact sports but after getting the government green light to play the two-leg clash, Okoth is hoping nothing comes on the way.

Vihiga host Kisumu all-stars on Friday at Mumias Complex before traveling to Moi Stadium in Kisumu on 3rd November for a rematch.
