Vihiga Queens head coach Alex Alumira says their double gameweek presents a good chance to exploit the potential of the squad’s fringe players.

The Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (WPL) champions will play Kisumu All Starlets on Saturday and then take on Soccer Queens a day later and Alumira believes they are ready for the tight fixture scheduling.

Vihiga slipped to sixth on the 16-team WPL log following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Thika Queens at the Thika Stadium but have four games in hand over the rest.

“Our striking against Thika was poor but we have corrected that. Compared to the last time faced off, Kisumu All Stars have really improved but I’m optimistic of a win.

“It’s a tight weekend so I have to try and field different players. My aim is to give other players a chance,” Alumira told Citizen Digital.

The Mumias Sports Complex will host a double header on Saturday with Wadadia tackling Trans Nzoia Falcons at 11:00am, while Kayole Starlets versus Spedag will be played two hours later.

On Sunday, Kisumu All Stars will play Vihiga Leeds, at Moi Stadium Kisumu, Thika Queens will tackle Oserian ladies at Thika Stadium, Trans Nzoia Falcons and Baringo Starlets will face off at Trans Nozia Stadium. Gaspo Youth will wrap up the fixture with Kayole Starlets at Ruiru Stadium.

After nine rounds, Eldoret Falcons remain top of the log with 20 points, two above second-placed Thika Queens.

Oserian Ladies are third with 15 points , Wadadia follows the suit with 14 points same with fifth placed Mathare women United who completes top five.
