Vihiga Member of Parliament Ernest Kivai Kagesi has hailed Sportiff FC, a grassroots team based in his constituency for the role it continues to play in nurturing talents.

Speaking at the weekend when he hosted the team’s playing unit to a luncheon that sought to chart the way forward as the team prepares for the upcoming season as well us appreciating the efforts of the club that has existed for only two seasons producing talents for other clubs such as Tusker, Kagesi who also doubles up as the team’s said that sports is instrumental in empowering the youths thus transforming lives.

“We have had lots of success stories of sportsmen and women who have achieved a lot in life; this can only be achieved through hard work, commitment and discipline,” the Vihiga legislator said.

Kagesi said that it has been his lifetime desire to have a professional soccer team from the region plying their trade in top-tier league, the Kenya Premier League, a move that seems to bear fruits as the club was expected to join the FKF Division One before Corona Virus pandemic put a halt to sporting activities in Kenya.

“Since the club’s inception, I’m proud to point out that it has achieved its purpose of tapping talent, providing a platform and exposing the talent to a higher level. I am motivated to further support the club to ensure that it gets to the highest football level in Kenya,” he said.
