Vihiga Queens arrive in Cairo for CAF Champions League
Vihiga Queens have arrived in Cairo Egypt ahead of the inaugural
CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled for November 5-19.
Vihiga’s travelling contingent left the country at 7AM EAT
aboard Egyptian Airline for their express flight and landed at 11am EAT.
The CECAFA champions, have been booked at the Haras El Hodod
hotel in Alexandria, approximately 219 km from the capital Cairo. They have
been allocated the Haras El Hodod field for their training sessions.
“The spirit is high in the team, our coaches (Charles Okere
and Boniface Nyamunyamuh) are working together to ensure they get the best out
of the team,” the club’s CEO Mike Senelwa said.
The club broke their training camp on Tuesday at the KISE
Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) in Kasarani, Nairobi.
“We are very much prepared and haven’t rested since we sealed
the qualification ticket in early September, because we embarked immediately in
the FKF Cup and half of our National team earned a call up in the National
team. We will give it to our all and I am sure we shall deliver good results,” the
team’s captain Enez Mango said.
Queens will start their quest for continental glory with a
clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on November 6 at the 30 June Stadium before
meeting Morocco's Asfar November 9 at the Military Academy Stadium.
They will wrap up their Pool B fixtures against Nigeria
heavyweights River Angels three days later at 30 June Stadium.
Group A comprises host Wadi Degla (Egypt), AS Mande (Mali),
Malabo Queens (Equatorial Guinea), and Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana.
