Vihiga Queens crowned Premier League champions in style

Vihiga Queens were on Saturday crowned champions of the Women Premier League in style at the Kitale Stadium in Vihiga as the curtains came down on the league.

Queens proved to be the best of the campaign bagging 70 points after hitting Tranzoia Falcons 2-1 in their final match of the term to take their season’s goal tally to 78.

Season’s top scorer Teresa Engesha put Vihiga Queens ahead in the first half to stretch her season tally to 36 enroute to bagging the Golden Boot award.

Her strike leveled matters after Falcons had assumed the lead via  Martha Amunyole in the 32nd minute before  Queens had the final say through Cynthia Shilwatso to seal the 2-1 win and lift the trophy in style amidst pomp and colour.

Speaking after the match, Vihiga Queens coach Alex Alumira congratulated the girls and the technical team for having put a plan in place to ensure they bagged the crown even as he warned title rivals to brace for an even severe test next term.

Vihiga County Deputy Governor Dr.  Patrick Saisi congratulated the Queens challenging them to keep the momentum.

For their heroics, the team was treated to an evening party at the Nest Hotel in Vihiga courtesy of Citizen Digital Sports and Vuuka FM.
