Vihiga United have signed AFC Leopards wonder kid Lawrence Luvanda on a one-year loan deal, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) club confirmed.
Luvanda was signed by AFC Leopards last year in June while he was still in High School playing for Chavakali High School.
Luvanda’s star has been on the rise since leading Kigama High School to the Vihiga County Secondary Schools title in 2017, upsetting Vihiga High in the final where the teenage forward scored both goals in their 2-0 victory.
Chavakali then lured him from Kigama at the close of that year and played a central role in their team that went on to win the 2018 edition in Kaimosi.
Luvanda will fill the position left by Philip Muchuma who joined Chemelil Sugar and is expected to join the rest of the players in training this week as they prepare to face Sofapaka over the weekend in Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega.
According to Vihiga assistant head coach, Francis Xavier, the young star is expected to help them on attacking revealing that they regret for not signing him before while he was still in school.

“Luvanda is one of our own; it was just by mistake that he was signed by AFC Leopards. It’s very unfortunate that AFC don’t have a room for him for now; He staying at AFC the whole season without playing would affect him and therefore we took that advantage to bring him so that he can help us on attacking,” Xavier said.
While at Chavakali High School last year, Luvanda was attached to Candy Strikers, the amateur club based in Hamisi, Vihiga County and previously featured for Mathare United when they defeated Gor Mahia FC Under-20 in the 2016 Junior Championships.
Currently Vihiga United are in position 12 with five points and have struggled in the first six matches of the league, having won one, lost two and drawn three.
