Kenya Volleyball Federation president Waithaka Kioni has successfully defended his top position ousting Dominion Club founder Martin Ochieng by 68 votes against 26 in the exercise which was conducted on Saturday in Nairobi.

Kioni who has been at the helm of the volleyball governing body for 20 years now will serve his last term after the triumph following the new constitution which was put in place in 2014 establishing two-term limits to all elected officials.

After the win Kioni who doubles up as the second deputy vice president of the National Olympics Committee Kenya (NOCK) took time to thank the committee members who trusted him vowing to serve diligently in his final term.

“I promise to remain faithful to the volleyball as I serve my final term because I want to leave behind a good legacy,” said the Supremo who is also the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) second Vice President.

Meanwhile, KVF Vice President Martin Makoha was ousted by Kenya National Sports Council (KNSC) treasure Charles Nyaberi .In 2014 the immediate VP narrowly beat Nyaberi in a single point.

Makoha congratulated his opponent asserting that it was now the high time to ensure they take the sport to the next level.

“I live to fight another day .Thanks a lot to those who supported me and best of luck to all elected officials,” Makoha conceded defeat.

In the second vice president’s position, Kenya Prisons’ women’s volleyball team manager David Kilundo won against the incumbent Kipkemei Sirma by 40 votes against 36 while Ben Juma retained his Secretary General position against national beach volleyball team coach and former Nairobi Water women’s coach Patrick Owino his only opponent.
