Walusimbi out in the cold as Gor plot Supersport downfall

Gor Mahia FC head coach Dylan Kerr says defender Godfrey Walusimbi is off his plans for Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup play-off against South African premiership outfit Supersport United.

Left back Walusimbi has yet to feature for the domestic giants since falling out with the club over a pay dispute on the eve of their return CAF Champions League return leg against Esperance Tunis.

Kerr admitted Thursday the Ugandan is among his most talented players but will not play him until his issues have been resolved.

“I am concentrating on the guys who are present in training. Walusimbi has to solve his issues with the club first,” the Englishman said in a post training interview at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

Gor were demoted to the second-tier continental club championship following their 0-1 aggregate loss to Tunis in CAF Champions League round of 32 played last month.

Supersport who are enduring a dismal run in the PSL will stand in the path of Gor as they seek to make progress into the group stage of the competition.

“This is a massive challenge because currently Supersport is doing well in the ABSA league. I am sure they will come to showcase their football but if my players will cooperate we shall get good results,” he said.

Supersport are ranked 14th on the PSL table after 25 rounds while Gor has taken their 2018 domestic start by storm, winning all but one of their opening seven matches.
