Walusimbi poised to start for Gor against Rayon Sports

By ISAAC SWILA IN KIGALI, RWANDA

Utility man Godfrey Walusimbi is expected to be the first name on the team sheet this afternoon when Gor Mahia tackle Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the Caf -Confederation Cup group ‘D’ match here in Kigali.

The auxiliary winger has been sorely missed by Gor Mahia owing to a protracted pay dispute.

However, with the matter settled, Walusimbi is expected to lead the squad alongside skipper Harun Shakava, attackers Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge.

Chief-creator Francis Kahata, play-maker Humphrey Mieno and Ernest Wendo are also expected to nail starting berths in the team’s midfield.

Meanwhile, Burundian defender Karim Nizigiyimana has been offering support to his team mates ahead of today’s game.

Nizigiyimana who tore his tendon late last term has been missing in action but is here with K’Ogalo as they bid to get their group campaign off to a flying start.

The lapping right-back was part of the squad that was taken through their paces on Saturday night at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo though he will play no role in the game.

The match kicks off at 6pm Rwanda time (7pm in Nairobi).
