Wambua makes five changes as he names squad for Africa Cup Sevens

Kenya Lionesses head coach Kevin “Bling” Wambua has made five changes to the squad that took part in the Hong Kong 7s and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as he named a strong team on Wednesday to take part in the upcoming 2018 Africa Cup 7s in Botswana from May 26-27.

Wambua Prisca Nyerere, Diana Awino, Sophia Ayieta and Sarah Oluche – have all been called replacing injured Rachel Mbogo, Stacy Owuor, Doreen Remour and Celestine Masinde.

Experienced skipper Philadelphia Olando, Sheila Chajira, Michelle Omondi, Grace Adhiambo, Linet Moraa, Camilla Cynthia, sensation Janet Okello, and Judith Auma, retain their spots in the Wambua coached side.

Defending Africa champions South Africa pulled out of the tournament to the amusement of the Kenyan ladies, citing their preparations for the upcoming Sevens World Cup to be held in USA in July, as the chief reason.

Kenya has lost to South Africa in the last three editions of the Africa 7s that saw the South Africans ladies team secure the only ladies slot to the World Cup.

In Botswana, Kenya is set to play Senegal and Madagascar in a favourable pool for the East African side.

Lionesses Squad:

Pool A: Kenya, Madagascar, Senegal
