Wambua upbeat Mwamba will rule Machakos Kabeberi 7s

Mwamba RFC head coach Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua says his target is to win the Kabeberi Memorial Sevens taking place at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos between August 18 and 19.

The Lionesses coach said he is looking to better his Prinsloo and Sepetuka Sevens having reached the finals twice, only to fall in the last hurdle.

Mwamba are second in the circuit with 38 points heading to the third round of the National Sevens Circuit, which they will hosting.

“We will be having the advantage of the home fans, and we will be more technical to our opponents and bring a better show than what we did in the last two rounds,” noted Wambua.

They have been finalists in their last two outings against Menengai Homeboyz who leads the circuit with 44 points.

“In Sepetuka Sevens we didn’t have possession and the Deejayz punished us for that, we defended most of the game making us a bit tired against our opponents who were more physical which made us lose the finals.”

“We have to go back to the drawing board and look at the areas we didn’t go right in our last outings and clean up on it and come back stronger.”

Despite the loss Wambua lauded the boys having been consistent in the last two outings.

“Two finals out of two and looking at our age group which is 22 years, I think we can as well get better as the circuit continues.”

He went ahead to say they will add two or more players as they head to Kabeberi Sevens.
