Wanyama shines but Egypt sink Kenya in Uganda
Kenya suffered an 82-86 defeat to Egypt in a closely contested Africa Basketball Games Qualifiers clash at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala on Wednesday.
Kenya’s Mercy Wanyama scored a game-high 21 points but her solo show was insufficient to prevent her side from going down at the Ugandan capital.
The tie was locked in an 82-82 stalemate with 26 seconds left on the timer before the Egyptians converted the decisive four points to seal their victory.
The national team’s shortcoming came after the team committed a lot of turnovers which were duly punished by the Pharaohs.
Kenyan men will face hosts Uganda in their first game later Wednesday.
