Warriors duo Bosire, Mutoro feted for outstanding league performances

Ulinzi Warriors duo Victor Bosire and Eric Mutoro have been feted for their heroic performances in the just concluded Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men Premier League.

Bosire was the star act in the league campaign and his heroics did not go unnoticed as he has been picked as the men’s league Most Valuable Player for 2019.

The weekend heroics saw the soldiers win the league title for the first time since 2015 when they last won it and ended Kenya Ports Authority (KPA)’s dominance.

Bosire won the league title for three consecutive years – in 2016, 2017, and 2018 while with KPA and his weekend act saw him go down in the game’s books as one of the few players to have won the gong with two different clubs.

And the 31-year-old attributes the league success and individual accolade to team work, discipline and hard work.

A Masters Degree holder in Strategic Managemnt, Bosire said: “It’s a dream come true and reward of t hard work and the inevitable growth especially after missing out on the award last season when many people expected me to win.”

Bosire has at the same urged upcoming stars to keep working hard adding that reward might not be immediate but takes time.

Born in Kegati village, Kisii County on 31st December 1998, Bosire did his early education at Xaverian Primary School from 1995 to 2002 before proceeding to Nyang’ori High School in Vihiga County from 2003 to 2004, and later Kisumu Day High School.

Upon completion of his high school studies, the basketball star joined USIU for undergraduate degree (2008-2011), and later undertaking a Masters’ Degree course from 2013 to 2015

Meanwhile his teammate Eric Reuben Mutora bagged the top scorer award.

Mutora who has been at the top of his game in the playoffs led the score charts in almost all the games he featured in scoring 81points against Thunder.

The 27-year-old shooting guard joined Ulinzi in 2014 from Umoja basketball team and has so far won two league titles with the Warriors – in 2015 and 2019.

The military officer dreams of playing for Real Madrid of Euro League, his dream club.

Mutoro attributed the award to teammates support.

“I owe it to my teammates and my family for motivating me every day. I would like to tell young players to work hard and smart in achieving their goals and always strive to play and win bigger and tough matches,” he added.

Born on 29th May 1992 in Kabras village, Kakamega County, Mutoro joined Tumaini Primary School (1998- 2005) then later Laiser Hill Secondary School (2007-2010) before proceeding to Nkumba University in Uganda in 2012 but did not graduate as he joined the military in the  2014.
