Waruru targets golden boot after Bidco switch

Bidco United striker Stephen Waruru has set his sights on winning next season’s golden boot when the Kenyan Premier League resumes.

The seasoned attacker joined the newly promoted side after being dropped by KCB early this year and insists he will use his experience to help the club finish in a decent position.

“Bidco is my home team because before I started my professional football career I used to train with them before joining Thika United; I guess you can say East or West home is best,” Waruru said.

Waruru, who won the golden boot in 2011, says he has been impressed by the club’s stability and technical bench led by head coach Anthony Akhulia whom he says influenced his decision to join.

“He is someone who has grown with the team from a player to be part of the technical bench and is now the head coach. Since I knew him he is someone who builds good relationships with his players but demands hard work and dedication,” he added.

The start date for the new football season in the country is still clouded in uncertainty with the Government remaining unclear on timelines for the resumption of contact sports.

“I have enough experience in the premier league to understand the intensity of the game and I am determined to do my job which is to score goals.”
