Wasteful Vihiga rally from behind to hold Rangers

Vihiga United suffered a major blow in their bid of evading the relegation chop after they were held  to a 1-1 draw with determined Posta Rangers at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The explosive meeting saw Rangers get their goal in the seventh minute through Nambute Francis from a goalkeeping blunder.

Five minutes after the halftime break, Alex Imbusia converted a free kick to make the tie even.

Things got murkier for Vihiga in the first half as Bernard Ochieng had to be pulled out after picking an injury and in his place came John Muyesu.

Chris Masinza had good chances to hand Vihiga a win but he missed two clear cut chances.

The result left Posta Rangers at position14 with 30 points,  while Vihiga are still rooted at position 16 with 25 points.

“It wasn’t an easy game, we started weakly but after realizing our opponents were not that hard,  we started pushing in the second half getting the equalizer and missing several chances,” Vihiga head coach Sammy Okoth lamneted in a post-match interview.

Okoth, newly installed in the position said in every game they are learning new tricks as they bid to avoid the relegation axe.

Rangers head coach John Kamua rued the missed chances.”We didn’t respect the opponents and we paid the price for it. I’m however hopeful of three points in our next match against Kakamega Homeboyz,” said Kamau.
