Wazito hold Mathare, Sharks down Chemelil

Wazito FC came from behind twice to hold Mathare United 2-2 in a drama-filled Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

Wazito were handicapped early in the first half after head coach Fred Ambani was sent to the stands early on for a foul-mouthed rant over the officiating.

And his side was pegged back in the 28th minute after goalkeeper Steve Njuge’s save from an effort by John Mwangi took a horrendous deflection off Bernard for an own goal.

The visitors drew level courtesy of Victor Ndinya who reacted fastest to tuck home a rebound after Michael Oduor’s shot from the edge of the area had come off the foot of the post.

Chrispin Oduor delivered a wonderful cross after he had beautiful cross into the space behind the Wazito defence and Kevin Kimani timed his run perfectly to arrive and attack it, cushioning it beyond Njunge for a neat goal.

Wazito found their way back into again after Ndinya floated in a corner kick and Paul Acquah headed it into the path of Onyango who connected his header home.

Wazito had the opportunity to grab all points late on when Acquah teed Ndinya through on goal. Job Ochieng seemed to have judge wrong his decision to come off his lines but he Ndinya let it run even though he got there before the Mathare goalkeeper.

Esleswhere Western Stima drew 0-0 with Ulinzi Stars while Kariobangi Sharks collected maximum points for the first time this season in a 2-0 win over Chemelil Sugar thanks to goals from Patillah Omotto and Duke Abuya.

KCB FC needed a late Martin Nderitu winner to edge Nzoia Sugar at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos while AFC Leopards were handed a walkover in Mumias after Sony Sugar’s no-show.
