Wazito show Ambani, Okumbi the door following poor results

Impatient Wazito FC have shown head coach Fred Ambani and technical director Stanley Okumbi the door hours after their embarrassing 4-2 home defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz in Saturday’s league match staged at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

In a statement published in the club’s official website, the team confirmed the exit of the duo noting that the two parties have parted ways on “mutual consent”.

Dubbed the moneybags of KPL, Wazito under new owner Ricardo Badoer had shown remarkable ambition in the off season signing several marquee talents in a bid to make an impact in the top-tier but spending big has not necessarily impacted on their performances.

The weekend chastening defeat was preceded by a slim 1-0 defeat to AFC Leopards and a tame 1-1 draw against Nzoia Sugar.

Assistant coach Hamisi Mohammed will temporarily be in charge of the team which is currently placed 13th on the KPL log with six points from as many number of games.

Club CEO Dennis Gicheru said: “I would like to thank coach Ambani and coach Okumbi for their great service to the club. They did a tremendous job during their time here and we wish them all the best.”
