We have no confidence in FKF Electoral Board Amukowa

Former FKF western branch chairman Andrew Amukowa now wants the Football Kenya Federation Electoral Board to be disbanded, claiming it will not conduct a free and fair electoral process.

“As football stakeholders we reject the FKF electoral board to conduct the elections. We want it to be immediately disbanded and call for the formation of a normalization committee involving all participants.

“The Nick Mwendwa appointed board cannot oversee the elections which the president himself is defending his seat!” Amukowa said.

Amukowa has further claimed that Mwendwa is in office illegally since his four-year term of office had come to an end.

“We do not approve the press statement issued yesterday (Tuesday) by the FKF electoral board which was created by Nick Mwendwa. We went to court and a clear ruling was made on March 17 that the current national executive committee members’ tenure had expired and so they are in office illegally. Mwendwa is not supposed to run any business as FKF boss at all,” Amukowa charged.

This comes barely a day after the FKF Electoral Committee chairperson Kentice Tikolo announced October 17 as the date set aside for national elections.

Amukowa recently endorsed the former Cecafa secretary general Nicholas Musonye for the country’s top football seat.

Others eyeing the top seat are: Former Kenya Football Federation president Sam Nyamweya, former Nyanza NEC member Tom Alila, ex-FKF chief executive officer Herbert Mwachiro, former FKF vice chairman Sammy Sholei,Steven Mburu, Moses Akaranga, Alex Ole Magelo, Harun Shivachi and St Peters’ Mumias Boys principal Cosmus Nabongolo as the list continues to expand.
