We have not trained since Thursday, Van Gaal says

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that the team has not had a single training session since there Europa League fixture against Midtjylland on Thursday.

In a post-match briefing ahead of home clash against Arsenal, Van Gaal however said the team is in high spirit and is confident of winning the match.

“There have been no training sessions [since Thursday]. We’ve had to recover after playing Midtjylland. We couldn’t train,” said Van Gaal.

United went ahead of win the match 5-1 to overturn a 2-1 away loss and proceed to the round of 16 where they have been drawn against Liverpool

“When I see the players in meetings, they are bright and there’s a good spirit. The confidence has been raised.”

Despite the injury crisis at Old Trafford, United managed to beat Arsenal 3-2 in one of their most stellar performances this season to improve their chances of a top four finish. United had lost 2-1 to Arsenal in November with the win ensuring they avoid a double defeat at the hands of the Gunner.

United lies 5th in the league with 44 points from 27 matches, three behind city rivals Manchester City who have a game in hand while Arsenal are third behind Tottenham who have 54 points. Leicester still top the league with 56 points.
