Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala says the club has an ambition to be the ‘best of the rest’ ahead of their trip to the Awendo Green Stadium where they play Sony Sugar on Saturday.

The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title race was wrapped up last weekend when Gor Mahia FC were crowned champions for a record 17th time but Mwalala insists it is no time to ease their feet on the gas.

The coastal-based outfit are on a brilliant winning streak that has pushed them into second place on the KPL standings but face a testing clash against an opposition enjoying an equally impressive run of form.

“Sony has a good form going into this match. They have been winning and collecting points so it will be a tough game. Remaining unbeaten is not our aim but we want to play well and get all the three points,” Mwalala said.

The former Nzoia Sugar boss added he has a full squad available for selection, which he admitted is a huge positive as they bid to maintain their momentum into the season homestretch and ultimately finish second.

A win for the Dockers will take their points tally to 54, six clear of third placed AFC Leopards who have a Cup tie against Kenya Police over the weekend. Their next league assignment will be against Posta Rangers on September 15.

Elsewhere, Nzoia will be hoping for a positive result when they collide with Vihiga United at the Sudi Stadium. The former has not won any of the last five matches, losing two and drawing three whilst Vihiga is coming at the back of a victory last weekend against Thika United.

Mathare United take on Kakamega Homeboyz at the Machakos Stadium with both sides recording inconsistent results with only a two point margin between them, Mathare in eighth on 39 points and Homeboyz in tenth.
