Western Stima electrocute their way to the summit of KPL

Western Stima defeated Nzoia Sugar FC 3-1 at the Sudi Stadium to rise to the top of  the Kenyan Premier League  table.

Stima now have 27 points from 13 matches while Kakamega Homeboyz who drew 2-2 with Ulinzi Stars in a cracking battle at the Afraha Stadium, also on Sunday are second with same number of points though with an inferior goal difference and so are third-placed Tusker who could however reclaim their leadership of the table with victory at the Kenyatta Stadium in Mackakos later in the evening.

Champions Gor Mahia have in the meantime dropped to fourth on the table with 25 points but with three games in hand.

And at  Sudi Stdaium, Benson Ochieng struck inside the opening 30 minutes for the visitors, Oramchan Villa added the second just five minutes later as Benson Omalla assured the lakeside outfit of the victory in 61st minute.

Collins Wakhungu scored the consolation for the hosts who suffered their second consecutive defeat at home after their lost 2-1 last weekend to Homeboyz.

Nzoia squandered a host of chances as referee awarded them a penalty but Samuel Njau was swift to deny  Collins Wakhungu a second goal.

Stima were in much control at the stroke of half time and could have added their second just after the breather with Oramchan Villa  coming close .

Faraji Kabali was at the rescue with 15 minutes left to play, Benson Omalla setting up Villa but his low shot was cleared off the line.

Nzoia were in much control of the proceedings towards the end of the match but their blunt attackers left their scoring boots at home.

Stima looked much better with their defensive line despite Omondi bringing on Robert Abonga as he looked to steer up his attacking options.

Owino Kenedy was at the heart of Stima defence and the lad had one of his best afternoons as he kept  Collins Wakhungu on check.

The Collins Omondi coached  Nzoia  have a date with Bandari  next as Stima visit Gor Mahia.
