Weve been on self-quarantine for 14 days, says Starlets coach Ouma

Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma says he’s been on self quarantine for 14 days together with team doctor David Ndakalu, physiotherapist Bruce Juma and the entire squad.

The squad jetted back to Kenya on March 12, 2020 from Istanbul, Turkey where the team had taken part in the Turkish Women’s Cup where they finished st position three, behind Ghana and Chile.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on Monday, March 23, Ouma confirmed that all the players and officials they travelled with are safe and in good health.

“We came back on Thursday 12 March 2020 at 4.15am and the following day (Friday morning) we all went for a checkup at the Mbagathi hospital. We stayed there the whole day and all of us we were checked and later discharged in the evening,” he asserted.

“From the advice of the doctors we were to undergo self quarantine for 14 days. We started immediately and we are supposed to complete it on March 25. For now I think everyone is okay,” added Ouma.

“Until now the entire players and officials are okay because we took precautionary measures; individually and as a team.”

At the same time, Ouma added that the Turkish women tournament gave them vital experience.

“We were glad participating in the Turkish Women’s Tournament. I think Turkey until now is one of the countries with the highest number of reported cases and by the time we were participating there was no any single case reported.

“Getting the bronze medal and having three points and scoring three goals I think is a big achievement to my career and the payers at large,’ he reckoned.

Starlet’s next assignment should be an Awcon qualifier first leg tie against Tanzania in early April but had to break camp following the Government’s directive amid the corona virus pandemic.
