Who are Motema Pembe, Gors CAF opponents?

A showdown looms on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Center when two of the most successful teams in Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo clash in a playoff of the CAF confederations Cup.

Gor Mahia have a record 18 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) titles while Motema Pembe has won their domestic league a record 27 times. TP Mazembe has more major trophies if you include international titles won with 35.

With Sh27m at stake for the winner of the two-legged tie this promised to be an exciting encounter with the winner qualifying to the group stages of the tournament .

Second on the log two points behind their local rivals TP Mazembe Gor opponents are currently in Rwanda for three day training before jetting in on Friday afternoon.

This will be the first time that the Kinshasa-based team, will be visiting Kenya in two-and-a half decades.

In their previous visit, Motema Pembe demolished a star-studded Kenya Breweries   5-2 in the final of the 1994 CAF Winners Cup.

Having lost 2-1 at home, the Sudanese side battled   for a chance and they did so by winning via the same margin in Kinshasa to throw the contention into level ground and send it into penalties.

Despite the struggle to qualify the team boost of some of the best player in Africa   DC Motema Pembe like striker Junior Kone from ivory coast ,  Vinny kombe, Gikanyi and Ngouelou who will be posing  a real threat to Kogalo come Sunday  .

As Gor Mahia struggle with financial crisis, Motema Pembe president Vidiye Tshimanga has warned his players and technical bench members against engaging in witchcraft ahead of this weekend’s continental assignment.

According to Congolese daily newspaper Lessential, Tshimenga has also fired  people he believes have been practising witchcraft at the club, and also warned the coaches on their beliefs.
