Winning Dubai Sevens top priority for Shujaa coach Simiyu

Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu is targeting better results this weekend in the second series of Dubai invitational tourney after finishing third over the weekend in the first series.

Shujaa defeated Japan 31-14 to finish third with Simiyu saying they’ll work on their mistakes to win the tourney.

“We’re happy with how the boys played over the weekend finishing third out of eight teams so for us it’s just to look at how we improve our execution and reduce errors to get better results,” said Simiyu.

“We’ve been focusing on the players getting back to one hundred percent in terms on body and we had our first training session to address some small areas in our game so as to get better results over the weekend,” he added.

Kenya will face Japan, Canada, Spain, Uganda, France, and Argentina on round robin format.

“We hope our boys will give the best and win the tournament in Dubai,” said Simiyu.

Kenya is using the tournament as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo later this year.
