Word to politicians as FKF coaches training starts in Machakos

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has embarked on an intensive two-week training course for over 35 coaches in the Southern Branch at the Machakos Teachers’ Training College.

The tacticians are pooled from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni regions with the exercise aimed at improving training methods in football.

Speaking during the launch of the course, FKF Southern Chairman, Antony Makau, urged area politicians to support existing competitions sanctioned by the federation as opposed to holding their own events.

“Tournaments sponsored by politicians are held occasionally with no follow-up plans on the youths who take part in them. Politicians wishing to sponsor football should instead support existing leagues in their areas.

“It is important for development of football in this country that elected officials who want to organize tournaments recognise existing structures for the benefit of our youth,” he added.

Makau reiterated the federation will not stop anyone from participating in the sport.

FKF Assistant Technical Director, Michael Omenga explained the initiative had been rolled out in all 20 branches countrywide.

“The federation has developed a curriculum which will guide training of coaches in Kenya with a view to improving football standards in the country,” he added.
