After clinching the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Coast regional title, Yanga FC head coach Abel Bellamy has set sights on the national finals slated for next year.

Yanga beat Kaya Stars 4-0 in the finals held Sunday at Bomu Stadium in Mombasa to be crowned champions alongside Kwale Ladies.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Bellamy hailed his charges for the outstanding display they exhibited in the tournament further sending a strong warning to his rivals ahead of the national finals.

‘I am very happy for the win, my team really did a wonderful job. Scoring four goals in a tournament like this is not easy but I think it down to proper preparations. I am certain that if we continue working hard then we will similarly win the national title,’’ he said.

With the national finals earmarked for Bomu Stadium, Bellamy is banking on home advantage in their quest to bag the title.

“We already have an advantage of playing in our backyard and I believe it will give my players confidence going to the national finals,” added Bellamy.

Kwale Ladies head coach George Ojwaya is also optimistic of clinching the national title.

”I am very happy for the girls, reaching national finals is not a joke and thereafter I am looking forward for a good fight to be the national champions. I noted some few mistakes in my defence line but that’s some of things we will work on going to the national finals next year,” said Ojwaya.

Alongside earning tickets to the national championship to be held next year June, both Yanga FC and Kwale Ladies bagged sh200,000.

The two teams join Berlin FC from Garissa in the national finals with the next stop being the Central region on January 18-19.
