You made it to Stars squad? Well done boy, Mwalala tells Shikhalo

Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala believes his players Farouk Shikhalo and winger Abdallah Hassan deserves their call-ups to the national football team Harambee Stars.

Custodian Shikhalo nailed a slot in coach Sebastien Migne’s provisional 30-man squad for the Afcon showpiece primed for June 21 to July 19 in Egypt while Hassan was considered for the Chan squad.

Speaking in Mombasa, Mwalala said they both deserved the chances as they have been instrumental in the Dockers run since last term.

“They both deserve the chances as they have been instrumental in our campaigns since last season,” said Mwalala.

Shikhalo was named alongside Ethiopian based goalie Patrick Matasi and Sharks duo John Oyemba and Brian Bwire.

Meanwhile, Mwalala assured that he will rest Abdallah after he picked up an injury in their game against Chemelil until he recovers fully to avoid the risk of being out for long.

“Abdallah was injured and we will not risk him in our next assignments until he recovers.”

The January player of the month was also in the Stars squad last year when he featured in a friendly match against Malawi at Moi Stadium, Kasarani when Kenya overcame Malawi by one goal to nil.
